I share my first name with the biblical Daniel - the prophet, dreamer and interpreter of dreams. That's not why I believe some of my dreams but the fact that God spoke through dreams to Daniel, Joseph the son of Jacob and Joseph the "earthly father" of Jesus and many other new testament bible characters is enough reason to believe that God still speaks in dreams.
The year was 2002, the election campaigns were gaining momentum and only one thing was certain - President Moi was not running for another term.
The setting of this dream was in a building at the junction of Tom Mboya and Ronald Ngala streets in Nairobi. In the dream I saw Mr Mwai Kibaki was the president of Kenya and violence had broken out all over the country. I was hiding in this building with my son who was about 2 years old. Maraunding gangs were roaming the streets and no one dared step out.
Our firstborn daughter was only a few months old and we had no plans for another child yet.
In June 2006, our son was born. At the hospital I joked with the nurses that I was to call him World Cup because of the timing of his birth. Least did I know that the timing of his birth had everything to do with the dream I had 4 years earlier.
As our son turned one and half years old in Dec 2007, the infamous post election violence brokeout in Kenya. Was this dream a warning ? Was it a call to prayer? Yes both a warning and a call to prayer. Now I take my dreams more seriously because God speaks through dreams. God bless you.
