Kenya's Post Election Violence foretold in a dream

I share my first name with the biblical Daniel - the prophet, dreamer and interpreter of dreams. That's not why I believe some of my dreams but the fact that God spoke through dreams to Daniel, Joseph the son of Jacob and Joseph the "earthly father" of Jesus and many other new testament bible characters is enough reason to believe that God still speaks in dreams.

The year was 2002, the election campaigns were gaining momentum and only one thing was certain - President Moi was not running for another term.

The setting of this dream was in a building  at the junction of Tom Mboya and Ronald Ngala streets in Nairobi. In the dream I saw Mr Mwai Kibaki was the president of Kenya and violence had broken out all over the country. I was hiding in this building with my son who was about 2 years old. Maraunding gangs were roaming the streets and no one dared step out.

Our firstborn daughter was only a few months old and we had no plans for another child yet.

In June 2006, our son was born. At the hospital I joked with the nurses that I was to call him World Cup because of the timing of his birth. Least did I know that the timing of his birth had everything to do with the dream I had 4 years earlier.

As our son turned one and half years old in Dec 2007, the infamous post election violence brokeout in Kenya.  Was this dream a warning ? Was it a call to prayer? Yes both a warning and a call to prayer. Now I take my dreams more seriously because God speaks through dreams. God bless you.

The Answer is Prayer

The stage was set, the media was awash with news of Pope John Paul II (his soul rest in peace) visit to Kenya. A visit that that was not only spectacular but prophetic. The journey started in Cameroon, then South Africa and finally Kenya on September 18, 1995.

A few days to the Pope's arrival, I had a dream. A dream so real and profound yet full of mystery. I wanted to dismiss it just like many others before. But it kept ringing in my memory, a constant reminder that it there was some truth in it. I decided to write it down on a paper to ensure I do not loose the finer details.

The settings was a well tended garden, the grass looking so ever green. The trees danced rhythmically as the near still breeze blew across the garden. The scene was heavenly.

Suddenly the tranquility  and serenity of the garden disappeared. A Mighty tornado invaded the garden and violently blew everything on the garden in all directions. I tried to look for some shelter but there was none to be found. There was destruction all over. I sensed a lot of the country's infrastructure had been destroyed and lives lost.

Deep down in my heart I sensed this had something to do with the forthcoming coming visit by the Pope - whether it was the timing of the visit or the visit itself I can't tell.  As the tornado continued  destroying everything standing on its way, I heard a voice say "THE ANSWER IS PRAYER" The answer to this destruction is PRAYER -  the answer is prayer.

Several  metres away, a meeting was taking place between President Daniel arap Moi and Pope John Paul II. The tornado caught them by surprise and both were looking for a solution to this sudden change of events. I sense of urgency engulfed me and a conviction to share what I had just heard. I reached out to a branch of one the tall trees in the garden and as if the tree knew what was in my heart, it lifted me up and brought me down to stand in front of the two gentlemen. Given the urgency of the situation there was no exchange of greetings, I went straight to deliver my message. I told them answer to all these destruction is prayer. Then the branch lifted me from their presence and the dream ended.

Three years later, in 1998 el nino rains hit Kenya. The destruction caused by the el nino rains was beyond any one's imagination. Is this what the dream meant? Maybe...but the message is still real and fresh in my mind "the answer is PRAYER."

This is a call for all believers in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Wake up from your slumber and pray. The enemy is determined to destroy our country but the answer is prayer. Wage war in the spiritual realm, pull down the strongholds of the enemy. Our God has assured us that He will answer when we pray.

Joe 1:14 Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD,
